LEED® for Homes for Field Agents - Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Will I be a certified LEED something?
A.   No. There is no certification of any sort during this pilot phase for field agents.

Q.  If I am an energy rater does this course substitute for RESNET's planned course for green home energy rater certification?
A. No. This course is directed towards understanding the LEED for Homes system and what we as providers will expect from field agents. The RESNET training is generic to green building programs and provides greater concentration on testing and inspection of a few aspects of green home building. Neither course is a substitute for the other at this time.

Q. Is there a test?
A. No test at this time. There may be tests developed during the full roll-out.

Q. Will I receive anything?
A. Yes, you will receive a certificate of completion of the course for your attendance and some LEED for Homes materials.

Q. How about CEUs?
A. FSEC will provide 6 CEU credits for energy raters (Rater CEUs). We also can provide them for licensed engineers who provide us their information by registration. Because of the short time in which the course was scheduled, we were not able to obtain CEUs for building contractors, architects and trades.

Q. Will I be able to certify LEED Homes?
A.  FSEC is the USGBC provider serving the Florida region during the LEED for Homes pilot phase and serves in conjunction with USGBC staff to certify the homes. Because of increasing demand, FSEC is seeking interested individuals to assist with field inspections and preliminary and final ratings for homes. We plan to only use people who have received the training provided in this course to assist us with field inspections. The field agent will help provide necessary information, but certification will be done by USGBC and FSEC.

Q.  How does LEED work with local building programs?
A.  USGBC is targeting the builders who want to builder very green homes and can be a second green designation for builders participating in local programs

Q. I have more questions about each of these –how do I ask more?
A. Attend the workshop.
